Parent/Guardian Demographics
Based on demographics from the 2000 U.S. Census the Hunters Lane community has approximately 50,238 residents. With 63.4% White, 30.4% Black, 3.5% Hispanic, .5% Asian and 2.2% are from other backgrounds. As the parent population at Hunters Lane becomes more diverse, the surrounding population reflects this growth. The school is bordered by three sub-communities: Goodlettsville in the north; Madison in the northeast; and Parkwood/Bellshire in the east. Whereas, all three areas are somewhat culturally diverse, the parent population in Goodlettsville and Madison are predominately Caucasian. The Parkwood/Bellshire areas are predominately African-American. Of all parents, a large percentage have earned a high school diploma and have had some college experience (27.7%) and 16.5 have Associate’s degrees or higher. Income levels of households show 34.5% of households earn less than $25,00; 33.7% earn the median level and 31.9% or more than $50,000. The unemployment rate among those 16 and older is 5% which is slightly lower than the state of Tennessee’s at 6%. The average size of families is 3.2 people and single-parent households make-up 47.4% and another 29.5% of all households have children under 18 years of age. Most residents have school-aged children (86.1%). |
